    Staff Thoughts

Please keep Hayley Wiese and family in your thoughts.  Hayley's mother had been battling illnesses for some time, but became more unwell and hospitalized suddenly.  Hayley flew to New Jersey 9/27 to be with her anticipating a return before school started.  The week took a different turn as her mom and their family learned more of the prognosis.  Hayley will now be on leave for 4 weeks to assist with end stage cancer care of her mother.

Huge thanks go out to Brenda Baranczyk who was able to fill in for Hayley last week.  Brenda will again assist in coverage this week.  Further coverage after that will be in the works.    Thank you for continuing to keep Hayley's mom and family in your thoughts!

    i-Ready Diagnostic

One of our beginning-of-year priorities is to prepare for and administer the i-Ready® Diagnostic. This first Diagnostic is critical to the success of the program. It helps us better understand students’ strengths and areas for growth, but only if that data is accurate. Our first window goes through September 30th.

The most important thing we can do is prepare students and motive them to put forth their best effort.

Here are a few next steps I’d like you to take to ensure we get good data:

Watch this video to learn more about best practices for getting good data and how other educators prepare their students.
Use the Preparing Students for the First Diagnostic PowerPoint® to get students ready for the Diagnostic.
Use the Kit: Get Good Data to review tips and tools and to create your own action plan for preparing students for the Diagnostic and supporting them during the administration.

Thank you again for all your hard work and commitment to the Diagnostic!  We are learning together. As always, let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like to arrange for me to be in your classroom during your first go at the diagnostic.

SAFETY WEEK is next week, Sept. 13-17

Mark your calendars to anticipate safety week during Sept. 13-17.  Specific information on dates, drills, and times will be shared with you this week.

Catch those Cougars doing great things!

Continue to put those Cougar Character Coins into action!!!  The monthly PBIS prizes will be on the announcements this week so as students begin to collect 5 they can trade them in for a ticket.  Thank you to ALL of you for watching our kiddos and catching those positive choices and character traits that they are displaying. We appreciate you recognizing them by mentioning to their classroom teacher that the child should receive Cougar Coins. It’s a TEAM effort!

    Staff Volunteer Sign-up List

Below is the link to the Sign-Up Genius page for the 21-22 school year for any/all EQ STAFF to volunteer to assist with Electa Quinney events, to assist in attending PAC meetings as a staff representative, and more.  This link will stay active throughout the year so feel free to bookmark it or save it to your favorites.  I have also added the link to the "Useful Links" area on the right hand side of the staff bulletin so that it is always available for you to access.  Let me know if you have any questions.

P.S.  Certified staff - - if you sign-up here and attend the event that counts as Principal approval that counts for C-Comp.

    NEW -- Open House - Sept. 21st

At our August PAC meeting the parents requested another opportunity to come in school and see their child's classroom and the school since there has been such limited access over the past year and a half.  We set the date of September 21st 5:30-7:00 p.m.  This is not required, just voluntary. Please sign up on the Staff Volunteer Sign-up Genius link if you'd like to volunteer some of your time to be at the Open House.  This can also give us an opportunity to showcase other great parts of our school such as PBIS and more.
