      Welcome

This week we welcome Shaina Carlson to the EQ team as our new Administrative Assistant.  Hayley was the Director at Play and Grow in Greenville prior to coming to EQ.  Thank you for your patience as Shaina learns the ins and outs of the office.  Connie Mitchell will be in the office in the mornings on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to assist with covering things for training.  Thank you also for helping Shaina feel welcome in the building!!!

With two staff now named Shaina/Shayna, we will now call BSG Shayna Gammichhia, "Shayna Bell".  Shayna thought this is easy to remember and is her maiden name.

      Fall Celebration and Costumes...

As we head into the holiday week, thank you for being sensitive to family holiday celebration preferences.  It is also Red Ribbon / Wear your "Ghosts" gear day on Wednesday, however costumes are still ok if your "grade level" has decided together to have students bring/wear them.

RED RIBBON WEEK                                                                                          Monday, Oct. 25th-Wednesday, Oct. 27th

October is Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Abuse Awareness (ATODA) month.  October 25th thru October 27th is National Red Ribbon Week…a week dedicated to celebrating a healthy and drug free life.  Kaukauna Elementary Schools have some activities planned during the month to promote awareness.  The following is a list of dates and activities planned at school:

4K-4 Students will learn about keeping their bodies healthy and drug free during their developmental guidance lessons with their School Counselor!

Talk with your kids to build healthy and safe habits for a lifetime: Small talks are short, casual conversations that help you connect with your child on the important stuff, like underage drinking. Having lots of small talks over time helps build trust and set expectations as kids change and grow.

        Staff Thoughts

As you know Hayley Wiese's mom was in end of life care for cancer unexpectedly at the start of the school year.  It is with great sadness and care that I share that Hayley's mom did pass.  Please keep Hayley Wiese and her family in your thoughts.    Hayley will be out on leave through Nov. 1st.  Sorry for the loss of someone so special.  You are missed Hayley!

Congratulations once again to Niki Herlache, Jenny Jozwiak, and Lisa Vanderaa for their 25 years of dedication and work in the Kaukauna Area School District! These three staff members were recognized with a personalized crystal apple at the staff meeting last week.  We are so lucky to work with each of you and have you on the EQ team!

        Family Event Success!!!

Thank you to all of those that helped/volunteered with the Family Event on Thursday, Oct. 14.  It was a calm and enjoyable event for all!  Seeing the smiles on student faces to be able to show their lockers, peek in classrooms/specials rooms, run off some energy and enjoy a cookie and conversation was noticeably welcome!  Thank you for helping to make it a success!  If you volunteered that evening, please feel free to wear jeans to school on Monday as a small token of thanks!!!

Talk with your kids to build healthy and safe habits for a lifetime: Small talks are short, casual conversations that help you connect with your child on the important stuff, like underage drinking. Having lots of small talks over time helps build trust and set expectations as kids change and grow.
            Visit https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/small-talks/index.htm for more resources.

            Staff Volunteer Sign-up List

Below is the link to the Sign-Up Genius page for the 21-22 school year for any/all EQ STAFF to volunteer to assist with Electa Quinney events, to assist in attending PAC meetings as a staff representative, and more.  This link will stay active throughout the year so feel free to bookmark it or save it to your favorites.  I have also added the link to the "Useful Links" area on the right hand side of the staff bulletin so that it is always available for you to access.  Let me know if you have any questions.

P.S.  Certified staff - - if you sign-up here and attend the event that counts as Principal approval that counts for C-Comp.

Student 1 - Why don't you have a superhero costume on? (to Mr. K)
Student 2 - He doesn't need a costume because all of the teachers at Quinney are Superheros!
