Sending positive thoughts to Karen Ritzke as she heals from her surgery.  We are thinking of you Karen, and hoping you feel better each day. Take it one day at a time, and you will be feeling better soon!

Please help me welcome Becky Hurst as Karen Ritzke's long term guest teacher Nov. 29 through Dec. 22.  I appreciate everyone helping Becky to feel at home while at EQ!

    EMPATHY

We hope you found success in our first month of PurposeFull People.  Thank you for stepping in and giving it a go.  We are headed into a new month so our new focus for Nov. 29th - Dec. 22 will be EMPATHY.  Click here to see the EQ calendar with easy to click links for your 10 minute daily activity.  Let any of the PBIS Tier I team members know if you have any questions or helpful suggestions for support we can provide.

    Shout out Board

These past few years especially, it is easy for us to get caught up in the manic pace of the days and get sucked in by the burdens, quirks, and negativity in this pandemic. This is incredibly easy to happen especially when we feel tired and exhausted. Help keep our peeps focused on the positive things that are going on every day!  Those positive things are all around us and tend fall ever so easily under the radar.

In the lounge you will find a sandwich board on the counter in the back corner titled "Staff Shout Outs". This board is intended to recognize staff members for the things they do to help you and others. When you get a moment, write down something great about a staff member on a sticky note and place it on the board. There are notes near the board in the lounge or write one in your room/office and stick it on the board.  Super Simple!!!

      Staff Celebrations

We wish Karen Ritzke well as she has hip surgery before Thanksgiving.  We will be thinking of you Karen!

We will welcome Becky Hurst as Karen's long term guest teacher Nov. 29 through Dec. 22.  Thank you for making Becky feel at home at EQ!

      Holidays!

Thanks so much for being respectful of all students and their families when you planned for fall/Halloween, and even more now with Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner.  It’s obvious that students enjoy these times of the year, as well as, the exposure to the diversity that our world brings. We can celebrate as a community of learners without elevating some family and community traditions while discounting others.  Celebrate learning and knowledge, celebrate the science, culture, and wonders of winter!

Sending warm thoughts and wishes to each of you and your families this in the coming weeks and always.  I hope the days off of school give you time to take care of your self and do something that makes you happy.  You are each a important person in the Quinney CREW!!!
The past year+ has given us many opportunities to remind us to not to take for granted all the blessings not matter how ordinary or small.

      Wishing You Well -- Stacy

      Inspiration of the Week EQ

Your strengths are important to those around you.

Think about a group that you belong to. Maybe it's your team, a neighborhood, an organization, your family. Picture that group in your mind.

What is that group known for doing well? Sort through those ideas and pick one word to describe what is great about that group. Focus on that word — see it in your mind.

Now, think about how your group does that so well. What is one "always" that people in the group agree on?

Finally, think of the role that you play within that group, and answer these questions:

As part of this group, what do I enjoy doing?

What do other people in the group usually look to me for?

In this group, what do I always do?

Your talents are consistent. They are the recurring patterns of how we make sense of the world. Notice how you're contributing not just to yourself but to the whole.

KELF Retired Teachers Offer Grants to You

Watch for a flyer in your mailbox this week from KELF!  This group of retired Kaukauna teachers ( Kaukauna Educators’ Legacy Fund= KELF) that exists to support you as you seek to improve and expand what you offer to students. We are especially interested in improving the literacy skills of your students. Our definition of literacy is the ability to interpret and organize data so graphs, maps, novels, lab notes, editorials, equations are all included. Those forms of communication need to be understood and used effectively, and we think that is what each of you is involved in daily.

Every year we make grants totaling just over $1,000. Although we have deadlines for applying in December and May, we are willing to consider grants at any time. Our forms are found on the staff page of the district website.  We invite you to consider a new opportunity for your own training, for bringing in a speaker, for new techniques or materials which may not be in your budget but which support district goals. We’ve sent teachers to workshops, bought equipment or materials to supplement or expand course offerings, helped bring in speakers for classes, and helped pay the costs of publishing and presenting special projects. We’re open to your ideas for fostering growth and achievement.

KELF members are enjoying retirement, but we remember the challenges of providing the very best for students, and we want to be a small part of meeting that goal. Please consider a KELF grant application as you make your plans.   We hope to hear from you!

        KELF Board of Directors

If you are interested in pursuing a KELF Grant, you can access the application forms at the following link.
